Biodiversity on Rabbit Island is being monitored with cameras

The Marine Life Conservation Society continuously monitors marine life, bird species on the island, and the Mediterranean monk seal cave in the area using the cameras set up on Rabbit Island.

As part of the efforts to protect and monitor Rabbit Island, designated as a "strictly protected sensitive area," the Marine Life Conservation Society has implemented various projects. Most recently, in July, the Society installed a camera system on the island. They are monitoring the biological diversity above and below the sea online.

In response to questions from an AA reporter about the system they established, Society President Volkan Narcı stated that the idea for the project emerged two years ago. Thanks to their supporters and sponsors, they were able to realize the monitoring station and, as a first in Turkey, are capturing real-time images from the Sea of Marmara.
